Crystal Sepúlveda is a Puerto Rican descendant-dissident from Miami, FL currently based in Southern California. She is Associate Faculty in the Dance Department at Mt. San Jacinto College and Profesora Visitante at La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico. She composes sound, performance, and video to weave notions on place-making, adaption, identity, and presence from a lens of experiential learning and movement-based research. She is an organizer and facilitator of the River Knows Project, a communal site-specific project that gathers at the Santa Ana River in Riverside, CA to generate conscious social art practices that address local quality of life issues. Sepúlveda received her Master’s degree in Experimental Choreography at the University of California Riverside, with a focus on the tactical possibilities available in instant compositions and improvisational practices that render mobility and visibility.
