bozalta welcomes unpublished, previously published, and simultaneous contributions in multiple forms. we only accept contributions through our Submittable

Bozalta_Image-2 IMAGES: photography, short films, reproductions of artworks (sculpture, mural, installation), etc.

format: contribute up to five images as .jpeg with a resolution of least 72dpi, maximum width of 750 pixels and height of 950 pixels, or a film under ten minutes in length as a vimeo or YouTube link

SOUNDS: songs, mix tapes, dj sets, spoken word, speeches, interviews, calls to action, etc.

format: contribute sound clips as high-resolution .mp3 or soundcloud link. you may send bozalta a maximum of three sound contributions.

TEXTS: poetry, fiction & flash-fiction, essays, interviews, book reviews, translations, reviews, rants & raves, manifestos, recipes, dichos, speeches etc.

format: contribute poems either individually or as a series of up to 5; contribute up to 5,000 words of prose; contribute articles of 10-20 double-spaced pages (not including appendices, photographs, bibliographic information, etc) with a maximum 150-word abstract; contribute interviews of 5-10 double-spaced pages; contribute book reviews of 3-5 double-spaced pages; all contributions must be 12-point Times New Roman font, with page numbers and one-inch margins, as a Microsoft Word .doc or .docx; citations should follow the American Psychological Association (APA), the Modern Language Association (MLA), or the Chicago Manual of Style; all notes, regardless of style, should be inserted as endnotes in Microsoft Word; all in-text images should also be sent as separate .jpg files

COPYRIGHT: The author is responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used in a contribution. We require signed permission from the copyright holder if quoted material exceeds the amount allowed under the “fair use” provisions of copyright law.

REVIEW PROCESS: All works contributed to bozalta will be considered for publication. Contributions are reviewed by the bozalta collective for content, style and format. Selected contributions will reflect bozalta’s mission. As a collective, we reject the myth of “blind” submissions; instead, we take into consideration the political and social location of each contributor. The entire review process will take 8-10 weeks. Notification of acceptance will be sent via email by early March. If contributors are asked to make revisions, they must submit either revisions or rationales for not revising within 2 weeks.
